Intended use

The product described in an electronic module for controlled tightening of fasteners so as to ensure the quality of the connection. It can be used only with Hilti impact wrenches that have the AT‑22 suffix in the model designation. A record of the work carried out is saved in the module and can be read out, for documentation purposes, using the AT Documentation Software PC application.
It is not possible to set a particular torque manually on this module!
Use only the impact-wrench sockets described in the operating instructions of the relevant product to tighten Hilti fasteners.
For this product, use only the Hilti Nuron lithium-ion batteries of the B 22 series recommended in the operating instructions of the impact wrench.

Possible misuse

Do not work with this product on electrically live lines.
This product is not suitable for Hilti fasteners in nuclear power plants! For more information contact Hilti Service.

Indicator LEDs

The torque module can indicate various messages or states by means of the indicator LEDs.
Status
Meaning
The LEDs show green.
  • When scanning: the barcode, QR code or data matrix code has been recognized.
  • When tightening, after the impact wrench has switched off automatically: the tightening operation was completed successfully.
The LEDs flash red.
  • When scanning: the barcode, QR code or data matrix code has not been recognized.
  • When tightening, after the impact wrench switches off: The threaded fastener could not be tightened in accordance with the selected settings. The reason for this could be, for example, that the impact wrench was switched off manually before the correct torque was achieved.
The LEDs flash yellow.
Depending on the fastener, the module has detected the following:
  • A) The threaded fastener of the stud anchor or the threaded rod with chemical anchor had already been tightened and subsequently slackened. Consequently, the threaded fastener has been retightened in accordance with the defined parameters for retightening, and the tightening operation has been completed successfully.
  • B) The threaded fastener for installation systems and cast-in anchor channels had already been tightened, but the module is unable to tell whether the correct tightening torque was applied. If the threaded fastener was not tightened with a calibrated torque wrench or if the indicator LEDs of the module do not show green, the threaded fastener has to be checked with a calibrated torque wrench and - if necessary - tightened to the correct installation torque.

The torque module's buzzer can emit the following signal tones as audible feedback:

USB interface

The USB interface (type C, USB 2.0) can be used to connect the torque module to a PC. When this connection is made, the AT Documentation Software offers a range of functions, including:
  • Adding new data records for new fasteners
  • Changing / updating existing data records
  • Deactivating / activating the documentation function
  • Loading the log from the documentation function
  • Setting the clock in the torque module

Inserting torque module

Switching on and off

Switching on the torque module

Conditions : The torque module is switched off, the display is blank.
  1. Set the forward/reverse switch on the impact wrench to the "forward" position.
  2. Short-press the control switch on the impact wrench.
    • The display lights up and briefly shows the Image alternative start screen.
    • As a function check the LEDs briefly show red and yellow, before turning green. An acoustic signal sounds.
    • The last operating mode selected appears inside a selection frame on the display.
    • If the display shows a fault:
      • Refer to the Troubleshooting section for the meaning of the icon or icons shown on the display.
  3. Select the operating mode and other settings, as applicable.
  4. Press the lock button Image alternative.
    • The torque module is locked and the impact wrench is ready for use.

Switching off the torque module

The torque module switches itself off:
  • when the impact wrench switches off automatically after a long idle period
  • when the battery is removed
  • when the USB connection between the torque module and the PC is interrupted.

Basic operation

This section explains the most frequently used basic functions in order to illustrate how the module is used. Detailed descriptions of certain operating modes can be found in the sections covering the specific operating modes.
The impact wrench to which the torque module is connected can be used only when the torque module is locked. This protects the user against accidental changes of the settings.
Unlocking the moduleThe torque module has to be unlocked before changes can be made to the settings.
  • To unlock the torque module, press the lockbutton Image alternative and hold it down for at least 1 second.
  • In the display a selection frame appears around the last previously shown type of fastener and the last previously shown operating mode.
  • The torque module is unlocked and in setting mode. The impact wrench is deactivated.
NavigationWhen the selection frame and two or more elements (options, parameters) are visible in the display, you can move the selection frame by pressing the arrow buttons Image alternative and Image alternative.
Selecting options / changing parameters
  • Position the selection frame on the element (option / parameter) you want to change.
  • Press the OK button.
  • A black background appears behind the element.
  • Use the arrow buttons to select the setting you want.
  • Press the OK button to accept the setting.
  • The element reappears surrounded by the selection frame.
Locking the moduleWhen you have made all your changes you have to relock the torque module.
  • Press the lock button Image alternative.
  • The selection frame disappears. The adaptive torque module is locked, the parameter settings have been saved and cannot be changed accidentally.
  • The impact wrench is re-activated.

Basic settings

Calling up basic settings

  1. If applicable, unlock the torque module.
  2. Press the OK button and hold it down for at least 1 second.
    • The "Basic settings" menu appears on the display.

  1. Use the arrow buttons to move the selection frame to the symbol for the desired function.

    Important: When the reading for memory usage reaches 100 %, the oldest data will automatically be overwritten.
    You can use the AT Documentation Software to export the logged data and/or clear the torque module's memory.
    Hilti recommends exporting the data and saving the exported data at regular intervals.

  2. Press the OK button.

Display icons for the "Maintenance information of the impact wrench" function

After activation of the Image alternative symbol, the remaining period of use of the impact wrench until the next service is shown with the following display icons.

The segments in the rectangle on the right in the display indicate residual usage period.

Important: This warning appears automatically when the residual usage period expires. The "Adaptive", "Tracefast" and "Tightening" operating modes can no longer be selected.
Irrespective of what is shown in the display, the impact wrench must be serviced at least once a year in order to ensure the quality of the bolt fastenings made with it.

Exiting "Basic settings" menu

  1. Move the selection frame to the Image alternative symbol.
  2. Press the OK button.
    • The last previously shown operating mode will be displayed.

Operating modes

The descriptions of the individual operating modes below apply only to forward rotation of the impact wrench (tightening). When the impact wrench is operating in reverse (loosening), operation is not controlled.

Adaptive operation

In "Adaptive" operating mode, the torque module regulates the tightening of the selected type of fastener. The parameters from the most recently installed software and/or parameter update are used. Regularly check the currency of the software and parameter versions installed in the torque module in order to ensure that the latest parameters are always applied.
In this operating mode the torque indicator of the impact wrench shows AT and pressing the torque selector button has no effect.
Comply with the operating instructions of the impact wrench.

Type of fastener

Parameters for various types of fastener are saved ex-works in the torque module.
The fastener shown must correspond to the fastener used.
Further information can be found in the SI-AT-specific operating instructions and in the general operating instructions of the fastener you use.
Make sure that you use the correct parameters for the fasteners used.

"Tracefast" operating mode

The "Tracefast" operating mode is an extension of the "Adaptive" operating mode. In this operating mode the torque module regulates the tightening of the selected type of fastener and logs the parameters of the fastener, including its serial number. The parameters from the most recently installed software and/or parameter update are used. Regularly check the currency of the software and parameter versions installed in the torque module in order to ensure that the latest parameters are always applied.
In this operating mode the torque indicator of the impact wrench shows AT and pressing the torque selector button has no effect.
Comply with the operating instructions of the impact wrench.

Type of fastener

Parameters for various types of fastener are saved ex-works in the torque module.
The fastener shown must correspond to the fastener used.
Further information can be found in the SI-AT-specific operating instructions and in the general operating instructions of the fastener you use.
Make sure that you use the correct parameters for the fasteners used.

"Tightening" operating mode

The number indicates the selected stage.
In this operating mode a total of 30 torque settings are available. The stage to be selected for a particular type of fastener depends on various factors.
    Examples of factors:
  • Type and size of the fastener
  • Specific torque of the fastener
  • Material and condition of the workpiece to be fastened
Determine the correct stage setting step by step on the basis of these data.

Determining the required setting for the "Tightening" operating mode

CAUTION
Risk of damage! Damage to the fastener, the accessory tool and/or the workpiece.
  • Before starting to tighten a threaded fastener, always check that the mating faces of the components to be joined are seated flat against each other and that the nut has been screwed down until it is seated against the component.
  1. Use a low setting for initial tightening of the fastener.
    • Start with as low a setting as possible, to avoid the possibility of overtightening and damaging the fastener.
  2. Use a calibrated torque wrench to check the torque applied to the fastener.
    For repeatable torquing of two or more identical fasteners, make sure that all torquing conditions remain unchanged. Changed torquing conditions might necessitate a different stage.
    Result 1 / 3The specified tightening torque of the fastener was not achieved.
    • Back off the fastener and set the torque module to a higher stage.
    • Tighten the fastener with the new stage setting and repeat this test step.
    Result 2 / 3The specified tightening torque of the fastener was exceeded.
    • Back off the fastener and set the torque module to a lower stage.
    • Tighten the fastener with the new stage setting and repeat this test step.
    Result 3 / 3The fastener was tightened to the specified tightening torque.
    This stage setting is correct for this fastener.

"Not controlled" operating mode

In this operating mode the torque module is deactivated. The torque module therefore does not have to be actually removed when it is not needed for a short period of use. The impact wrench works as though the torque module were not installed. The torque indicator of the impact wrench shows the selected torque stage and the setting can be changed by means of the torque selector button.

Setting the operating mode

There are 2 ways of setting the operating mode to suit the type of fastener.

Setting operating mode by scanning barcode, QR code or data matrix code

If a barcode, QR code or data matrix code is available for the Hilti product to be tightened, the operating mode can be set correctly for the product quickly and easily by scanning the code.
  1. Unlock the torque module.
  2. Press the "Scan" button.
    • The scanner is activated and the Image alternative symbol appears on the display to indicate that the scanner is ready.

  1. Now hold the module approximately 15 centimeters (6″) away, with the projected cross-hairs centered on the barcode, QR code or data matrix code.

    The operating mode for the fastener to be tightened appears on the display.

    Parameters for the fastener to be tightened might not yet be available in the torque module's memory. Hilti has separate SI‑AT-specific operating instructions for the SI‑AT-compatible fasteners. Printed on these operating instructions you will find a QR code that you can scan with the torque module in order to load the parameters into the torque module's memory.
    The operating parameters for the product to be tightened can also be uploaded to the torque module via USB with the AT Documentation Software . Regularly check the currency of the software and parameter versions installed in the torque module in order to ensure that the latest parameters are always applied.

    • Press the "Scan" button and scan the code again.
  1. If the fastener is Tracefast-capable, select whether you want to use the Tracefast operating mode (Image alternative) or not (Image alternative ).
  2. Lock the torque module.
    • If the Tracefast operating mode was activated, Image alternative Image alternative shows continuously on the display.
    • If the Tracefast operating mode was deactivated, Image alternative Image alternative shows continuously on the display.

Setting the operating mode with the control panel buttons

If no barcode, QR code or data matrix code is available for the fastener to be tightened, the operating mode can be set manually by means of the buttons on the torque module.
  1. Unlock the torque module.
  2. Use the arrow buttons to move the selection frame to the option you want to change.
  3. Press the OK button.
    • A black background appears behind the option you selected.
  4. Use the arrow buttons to select the desired setting.
  5. Press the OK button.
    • The selected setting appears in the selection frame.
  6. Repeat steps 3 to 5 as necessary to make other changes.
  7. Lock the torque module.

Tightening the threaded fastener in "Adaptive" operating mode

Before using the torque module, make sure that the fastener to be tightened is correctly installed. Follow the instructions in the operating instructions of the fastener to be tightened and the information on checking the fasteners.
  1. Select the "Adaptive" operating mode.
  2. Set the forward/reverse switch to the "Forward" position.
  3. Install a suitable accessory tool on the impact wrench and engage the fastener to be tightened.
  4. Press and hold down the control switch until the torque module returns one of the following feedback signals:

    • The confirmation tone sounds.
    The fastener was tightened correctly. Proceed with the next fastener of the same type.

    • The LEDs flash yellow.

    A) The threaded fastener of a stud anchor or a threaded rod with chemical anchor that had been tightened and subsequently slackened has been re-tightened. If the threaded fastener had not been correctly tightened beforehand, use a calibrated torque wrench to check and, if necessary, tighten to the correct tightening torque. B) The threaded fastener for installation systems and cast-in anchor channels had already been tightened, but the module is unable to tell whether the correct tightening torque was applied. Check the threaded fastener with a calibrated torque wrench and, if necessary, tighten it to the correct installation torque.
    Result 3 / 4
    • The message indicating “Battery voltage too low” is displayed: Image alternative
    • The LEDs flash red.
    The battery does not have enough power left for tightening the fastener.
    • Press the OK button to confirm the message.
    • Insert a charged battery.

    • Warning tone 2 sounds.
    • Use a calibrated torque wrench to apply the correct tightening torque to the fastener.

Tightening product in the Tracefast operating mode

Before using the torque module, make sure that the fastener to be tightened is correctly installed. Follow the instructions in the operating instructions of the fastener to be tightened and the information on checking the fasteners.
If the "Tracefast" operating mode is activated, the torque module reads only data matrix codes on fasteners. In order to scan some other barcode, QR code or data matrix code, you must deactivate the "Tracefast" operating mode.
  1. Activate the "Tracefast" operating mode Image alternative Image alternative.
  2. Set the forward/reverse switch to the "Forward" position.
  3. Press the control switch of the impact wrench.
    • The scanner of the torque module is activated.
  4. Scan the data matrix code on the fastener to be tightened.
    Result 1 / 2The LEDs show green.
    The display shows Image alternative.
    The confirmation tone sounds.
    The fastener to be tightened is shown on the display and the torque module saves the metadata of the fastener for the subsequent tightening operation.
    Result 2 / 2The LEDs flash red.

    The warning tone sounds.
    • Press the "Scan" button and scan the code again.
    • If the code cannot be scanned (e.g. because it is too badly damaged), after 10 seconds the torque module offers the possibility of deactivating the "Tracefast" operating mode for the next fastener and tightening the fastener in the "Adaptive" operating mode. Confirm your selection with the OK button. The next fastener can be tightened without saving its metadata. The torque module then automatically returns to the "Tracefast" operating mode.
  5. Install a suitable accessory tool on the impact wrench and engage the fastener to be tightened.
  6. Press and hold down the control switch until the torque module returns one of the following feedback signals:

    The fastener was tightened correctly. Proceed with the next fastener of the same type.

Check the threaded fastener with a calibrated torque wrench and, if necessary, tighten it to the correct installation torque.

  7. Repeat steps 3 to 6 for each additional fastener to be tightened.

Tightening the threaded fastener in "Tightening" operating mode

  1. Select the "Tightening" operating mode.
  2. Determine the tightening setting for the threaded fastener to be tightened and select this setting.
  3. Set the forward/reverse switch to the "Forward" position.
  4. Install a suitable accessory tool on the impact wrench and engage the product to be tightened.
  5. Press the control switch and hold it down until the torque module returns one of the following feedback signals:

    • The message indicating "Tightening completed successfully" is displayed: Image alternative
    • The LEDs show green.
    • The confirmation tone sounds.
    The fastener was tightened correctly. You can continue directly to the next fastener of the same type.

    • Use a calibrated torque wrench to apply the correct tightening torque to the fastener.

Checking fastener

All Hilti fasteners are subject to a process of constant updating, which means that fasteners not described in this documentation might also be supported by the SI-AT module. Keep the software and the parameter versions up to date at all times.

Checking the fasteners of stud anchors

To ensure that the specified pretension as per the approval / operating instructions has been correctly applied when the "Adaptive" operating mode is used to tighten stud anchors, the first stud anchor and the last stud anchor always have to be checked with a calibrated torque wrench. This check of the applied installation torque has to be carried out immediately after tightening (installation) of the stud anchor.
The check torque to be applied corresponds to 75 % of the installation torque specified for the stud anchor in question; obtain this information from the operating instructions for this anchor.
  • Check the fastener of the stud anchor with a calibrated torque wrench and application of the correct check torque. In this process, observe the angle through which the fastener can be turned in the tightening direction.
    Result 1 / 2The fastener of the stud anchor was not turned farther than through the specified maximum angle of rotation (< 180 °).
    The fastener was tightened correctly.
    Result 2 / 2The fastener of the stud anchor was turned farther than the specified maximum angle of rotation (> 180 °).
    The fastener was not tightened correctly. The threaded fasteners tightened since the previous check are to be regarded as faulty and must be checked. Have the impact wrench checked by Hilti Service.

Check of the fasteners of threaded rods with chemical anchors

To ensure that the specified pretension as per the operating instructions has been correctly applied when the "Adaptive" operating mode is used to tighten fasteners of threaded rods with chemical anchors, the first fastener and the last fastener always have to be checked with a calibrated torque wrench. To ensure that the specified pretension as per the approval / operating instructions has been correctly applied when the "Adaptive" operating mode is used to tighten pushbuttons, the first pushbutton and the last pushbutton always have to be checked with a calibrated torque wrench. This check of the applied installation torque has to be carried out immediately after tightening (installation) of the pushbutton.
The check torque to be applied corresponds to the installation torque specified for the pushbutton in question; obtain this information from the operating instructions for this pushbutton.
  • Use a calibrated torque wrench to check the fastener. In this process, observe the angle through which the fastener can be turned in the tightening direction.

Checking threaded fasteners tightened in the "Tightening" operating mode

  • At regular intervals, using a calibrated torque wrench and proceeding in accordance with your company regulations or quality specifications, check that specified tightening torque has been achieved.

Connecting the torque module to a PC

  1. Open the sliding cover on the underside of the torque module.
  2. Plug the connector (type C, USB 2.0) of the USB cable into the USB interface of the torque module.

    After unplugging the USB connector, close the cover over the port on the torque module. This prevents dirt from making its way into the USB interface.

Care of the product
  • Carefully remove stubborn dirt.
  • Carefully clean the air vents, if present, with a dry, soft brush.
  • Use only a slightly damp cloth to clean the housing. Do not use cleaning agents containing silicone as these can attack the plastic parts.
  • Use a dry, clean cloth to clean the contacts of the product.
Care of the Li‑ion batteries
  • Never use a battery with clogged air vents. Clean the air vents carefully using a dry, soft brush.
  • Avoid unnecessary exposure of the battery to dust and dirt. Never expose the battery to high levels of moisture (e.g. by being dipped in water or left in the rain).
    If a battery has been soaked by moisture, treat it as a damaged battery. Isolate it in a non-flammable container and consult Hilti Service.
  • Keep the battery free of extraneous oil and grease. Do not permit dust or dirt to accumulate unnecessarily on the battery. Clean the battery with a dry, soft brush or a clean, dry cloth. Do not use cleaning agents containing silicone as these can attack the plastic parts.
    Do not touch the contacts of the battery and do not remove the factory-applied grease from the contacts.
  • Use only a slightly damp cloth to clean the housing. Do not use cleaning agents containing silicone as these can attack the plastic parts.
Maintenance
WARNING
Danger of electric shock! Improper repairs to electrical components may lead to serious injuries including burns.
  • Repairs to the electrical section of the tool or appliance may be carried out only by trained electrical specialists.
  • Check all visible parts and controls for signs of damage at regular intervals and make sure that they all function correctly.
  • Do not use the product if signs of damage are found or if parts malfunction. Immediately have the product repaired by Hilti Service.
  • After cleaning and maintenance, install all guards and protective devices and check that they are in full working order.

Transport of cordless power tools and batteries

  • Always transport your products with the batteries removed!
  • Remove the battery/batteries.
  • Never transport batteries loose and unprotected. During transport, batteries should be protected from excessive shock and vibration and isolated from any conductive materials or other batteries that may come in contact with the terminals and cause a short circuit. Comply with the locally applicable regulations for transporting batteries.
  • Do not send batteries through the mail. Consult your shipper for instructions on how to ship undamaged batteries.
  • Prior to each use and before and after prolonged transport, check the product and the batteries for damage.
Storage of cordless power tools and batteries

  • Always store your products with the batteries removed!
  • Store the product and the batteries in a cool and dry place. Comply with the temperature limits stated in the technical data.
  • Do not store batteries on the charger. Always remove the battery from the charger when the charging operation has completed.
  • Never leave batteries in direct sunlight, on sources of heat, or behind glass.
  • Store the product and batteries where they cannot be accessed by children or unauthorized persons.
  • Prior to each use and before and after prolonged storage, check the product and the batteries for damage.

Hilti Li-ion batteries

Instructions for safety and useThis documentation uses the term battery to describe rechargeable Hilti Li-ion battery packs containing several Li-ion cells joined together. These batteries are to be used in Hilti power tools exclusively. Use only genuine Hilti batteries!
DescriptionHilti batteries have cell-management and cell-protection systems.
The batteries are composed of cells that contain lithium-ion storage materials capable of providing high specific energy density. Li-ion cells have a minimal memory effect, but they are very susceptible to external impact, deep discharge, and high temperatures.
The products approved for use with Hilti batteries can be found in your Hilti Store or at: www.hilti.group
Safety
  • Comply with the following safety instructions for the safe handling and use of Li-ion batteries. Failure to comply can lead to skin irritation, severe corrosive injury, chemical burns, fire and/or explosion.
  • Treat batteries with care in order to avoid damage and prevent leakage of fluids that are extremely harmful to health!
  • Do not under any circumstances modify or tamper with batteries!
  • Do not disassemble, crush or incinerate batteries and do not subject them to temperatures over 80 °C.
  • Never use or charge a battery that has suffered an impact or been damaged in any other way. Check your batteries regularly for signs of damage.
  • Never use recycled or repaired batteries.
  • Never use the battery or a battery-operated power tool as a striking tool.
  • Never expose batteries to the direct rays of the sun, elevated temperature, sparking, or open flame. This can lead to explosions.
  • Do not touch the battery poles with your fingers, tools, jewelry, or other electrically conductive objects. This can damage the battery and also cause material damage and personal injury.
  • Keep batteries away from rain, moisture and liquids. Penetrating moisture can cause short circuits, electric shock, burns, fire and explosions.
  • Use only chargers and power tools approved for the specific battery type. Read and follow the relevant operating instructions.
  • Do not use or store the battery in explosive environments.
  • If the battery is too hot to touch it may be defective. Put the battery in a place where it is clearly visible and where there is no risk of fire, at an adequate distance from flammable materials. Allow the battery to cool down. If it is still too hot to touch after an hour, the battery is faulty. Follow the instructions in the section headed What to do in case of a battery fire .
What to do in case of damaged batteries
  • Always contact Hilti when a battery is damaged.
  • Never use a battery that is leaking fluid.
  • Avoid direct eye and/or skin contact with fluid leaking from a battery. Always wear protective gloves and eye protection when undertaking tasks involving battery fluid.
  • Use a chemical spill cleanup kit to remove leaked battery fluid. Comply with the locally applicable cleanup regulations for battery fluid.
  • To store a damaged battery, place the battery in a non-flammable container and cover the battery with dry sand, chalk powder (CaCO3) or silicate (Vermiculite). Then seal the lid air-tight and store the container away from flammable gases, liquids or objects.
  • Dispose of the container at your Hilti Store , or consult your local governmental garbage disposal or public health and safety resources for disposal instructions. Comply with the locally applicable regulations for transporting damaged batteries!
What to do in case of dysfunctional batteries
  • Watch for abnormal battery behavior, such as faulty charging, unusually long charging times, noticeable power loss, unusual LED activity, or leaking fluids. These are signs of an internal problem.
  • If you suspect an internal battery problem, contact Hilti Service.
  • A battery that no longer works, cannot be recharged or leaks fluid has to be disposed of correctly. See the section headed Maintenance and disposal .
What to do in case of a battery fire
    WARNING
    Battery fire hazard! A burning battery releases hazardous and potentially explosive liquids and fumes that can lead to corrosion injuries, burns or explosions.
  • Wear your personal protective equipment when you tackle a battery fire.
  • Provide sufficient venting to permit hazardous and potentially explosive fumes to escape.
  • Leave the room immediately in case of intense smoke emission.
  • Consult a doctor in case of any skin or respiratory irritation.
  • Alert the fire service before you start tackling the fire.
  • Use only water to tackle a battery fire and keep as far from the fire as effective extinguishing permits. Powder fire extinguishers and fire blankets are ineffective with Li-ion batteries. Fire in nearby materials can be extinguished with appropriate extinguishing agents.
  • Do not try to move large quantities of burning batteries. Instead, isolate the batteries by removing unaffected materials from the immediate vicinity.
In the case of a battery that does not cool down, or a smoking or burning battery:
  • Scoop the battery up with a shovel and drop it into a bucket of water, which will reduce the risk of igniting adjacent cells that have not yet reached run-away temperature.
  • Leave the battery in the bucket for at least 24 hours until it has cooled down completely.
  • See the section headed What to do in case of damaged batteries .
Shipping and storage
  • Ambient operating temperature to be kept between -17°C and +60°C / 1°F and 140°F.
  • Storage temperature to be kept between -20°C and +40°C / -4°F and 104°F.
  • Do not store batteries on the charger. Always remove the battery from the charger when the charging operation has completed.
  • Store batteries in a cool and dry place. Cool storage will increase battery life. Never store batteries where they are exposed to direct sunlight, on sources of heat or behind glass.
  • Do not send batteries through the mail. Consult your shipper for instructions on how to ship undamaged batteries.
  • Never transport batteries in bulk form (loose, unprotected). During transport, batteries should be protected from excessive shock and vibration and isolated from any conductive materials or other batteries that may come in contact with the terminals and cause a short circuit. Comply with the locally applicable regulations for transporting batteries.
Maintenance and disposal
  • Keep the battery free of oil and grease. Do not permit dust or dirt to accumulate unnecessarily on the battery. Clean the battery with a dry, soft brush or a clean, dry rag.

  • If a battery is exposed to soaking moisture, treat it as a damaged battery and isolate it in a non-flammable container.
