Battery cut off saw tools for a safer jobsite
In the past if you were using a battery cut off saw, sometimes known as a cordless cut off saw, you would have a number of factors to consider during their use. These would include petrol fumes, especially when used indoors, navigating power cables and exposure to dust.
Hilti’s battery cut off saws are designed for heavy duty tasks across a range of materials including concrete, steel, metal and masonry on both our regular and rear handle models. But one of the biggest advantages they have in the trade, is that they are battery powered tools – so you can overcome the complication of petrol fumes and cables when you’re on site.
And for added protection, our battery cut off saw products offer virtually dust-free cutting, or lower dust cutting, when used with a compatible water supply or add-on vacuum accessories respectively. This is in addition to added safety features such as lower-vibration and fast blade brake.

What is a battery cut off saw?
A battery cut‑off saw is a heavy-duty cordless tool that’s designed to cut concrete, brick, asphalt and other materials with a rotating disc blade. Being a tool that is free from wires gives it the flexibility to work on tough materials. While petrol cut-off saws are also available, a battery cut-off saw doesn’t produce fumes as it is battery powered and can be used in confined areas.

How long does a battery cut off saw last on one charge?
This entirely depends on the use, as more strenuous tasks will use more power. For instance, our DSH 600-22 battery cut off saw will complete up to 22 kerbstone cuts or 95 rebar cuts with two batteries on a single charge. This means the saw could last anywhere between 30-60 minutes – even longer with prolonged use.

Are battery cut off saws as powerful as petrol or corded models?
Battery cut-off saws have made technological progress in recent times. Battery powered saws can match the performance and feel of gas products – such as the Hilti DSH 600-22 which can run similar to a 60cc saw. In addition, they can perform at quieter levels and require less maintenance on items such as spark plugs and engine components.

How do I choose the right cordless cut off saw?
There are a few things to consider when it comes to choosing a cordless/ battery cut-off saw:
Blade size – Bigger the disc, the more depth you can cut. Bigger saws will also be heavier to handle.
Battery life and charging time – To help keep things efficient, you’ll need to know how long your batteries can last on a single charge, and how long they take to charge – so you’re never without power with fully-charged spare batteries.
Handle placement – some blades feature a handle on the rear, while others have a handle on the side. Top handle is usually better for portability and handling, while rear handle is better for ground cutting and prolonged use.
Petrol vs Battery – For extended use, it may be better to choose petrol due to ease of keeping your saw in operation, vs having to charge and use batteries at different times.
