Hi,
After run an analysis, the design method was chosen to be SOFA design method. On of the report it is noted the proof: SOFA design method fib (07/2011) - after ETAG BOND testing. Could you please clarify fib report 07 because I find it as report Corrugated plastic ducts for internal bonded post. I'm assuming that the design should be verified by ETAG bond test after?
It has been also assumed uncracked concrete. According to EC2, this need verification. Could you please confirm that the same verification is required under SOFA method?
Thanks
Thank you for your question. FIB relates to a publication by the International Federation for Structural Concrete ' Design of anchorages in concrete' Bulletin 58 2011 .
As you may know, previously Eurocode and ETAG are limited to an anchor layout up to 3x3 anchors. To go beyond this limitation in anchor layouts, and calculate applications with circular layouts, 4x2 anchor layouts, 4x4 anchor layouts, 5x1 anchor layouts, etc. the user of PROFIS can choose to fill the annular gap between the anchor and the base plate and use SOFA (solutions for fastenings).
In this case, the solution is an engineering judgement, based on the formulas of ETAG --> that's SOFA based on ETAG (see design method on first page of design report).
When performing shear verifications near an edge, Eurocode requires that all shear load is distributed to the front rows. However, regulation "fib design bulletin 58" went beyond the Eurocode, and allows for that shear to be also distributed to the back row.
In this case, the solution is NOT an engineering judgement, but is fully based on fib guideline --> that's SOFA based on fib. fib is limited to 3x3 anchor arrangements.
So PROFIS selects the
design method in the following way:
1. Is the anchor layout up
to 3x3 (covered in fib?)
1a. Yes --> then -->
SOFA based on fib, shear distribution to the back row.
1b. No --> then -->
SOFA based on ETAG, no shear distribution to the back row.
