Hi,
I currently have a situation where we would like to fix rebars into an existing culvert using Hilti Profis. The intention is to have the dowels to be fixed to the new rebars of 16mm dia. @ 150mm centres. The situation is we have the loads to be MEd = 126kNm, VEd = 181kN, in a downward direction. The existing culvert have a reinforcement of 16mm dia. @ 300mm centres with 38mm cover top and bottom and depth of 450mm.
The question is, 1) is this an accurate way of analysing the situation if the intention is to use the post-installed rebars with adhesive anchors? 2) why does the analysis not allowing the spacings of the dowels to be 150mm centres? 3) does it not take into account any concrete failure? 4) any suggestion from Hilti to have the new rebars fixed to the existing culvert?
Thanks.
Thanks for your enquiry, from the screen shot the advisory messages (Your Profis model would have been better to be honest) is saying that the distance between the existing rebar and where you wish to install the new rebar is too large a distance, typically you are look at a max of 4 x d . If larger distances then you need to be adding on that extra distance to the lap but as the model has pointed out the length of the concrete is insufficient so that the lap required cannot be achieved.
