I need a masonry fixing into a standard brick 215 x 102 x 65- not sure if it is hollow or not, but using the hollow clay brick option. The only options that come up are using the resins, can we not use a mechanical anchor?
Thank you for your question, currently there is only a chemical anchor solution available as the software followed the original ETAG 029 Annex C which covered the use of 'Metal injection anchors for use in masonry' . Hence the HY270 injection system. I'm sure as codes are developed in future by the relevant commission for mechanical anchors within masonry the software will implement the changes and and test data accordingly to provide addition options. Currently as no data is available and you wish to use a mechanical anchor then you would need to undertake either preliminary or destructive testing in accordance with BS8539:2012 to establish the allowable resistances.
