Hi, in one project, we need to design some post drilled starters for columns inside pilecaps supporting those columns, because the starters that were installed were the wrong size. Thus we need to drill some bars and install rebar fixed with resin, that will serve as additional starters. All these starters will be in compression because it is a column. I tried to design the required embedment for these starters with resin from Hilti using the software profis. However Profis cannot design compression anchorage, Also in the spcification of the resin Hilt HIT-RE-500-SD, the document explains how to calculate tension anchorage but not compression. Could you please tell me how I can design dowel rebar for compression usin hilti resin and not tension? Is there a manual or specifications explaning this? And Is there a software I can use to calculate compression anchorage?
Thanks for your question using standard anchoring design method the compression force acts on the baseplate and not on the anchors. As you mention rebar, I would refer you to the post installed rebar design approach. Please see attached which looks are various design criteria including rebar that is subjected to a compression load. One other point RE500-SD is an obsolete product from quite a number of years ago and you should not be using that technical for current designs. Please check your local HILTI online for the Hit RE500V4 technical data
