HILTI Profis Timber Screw Designer

Hi,

Does your HILTI Timber Profis Engineering software consider edge distances for timber screw connections? Specifically Steel-plate to Timber axially and laterally loaded.

We are proposing to utilise a HILTI S-WCO 6.0x140 screw to fix a guard rail into the short edge of a timber (38mm wide). The software appears to state it passes, however no mention minimum edge distances.

Thanks.

Michael

Thanks for your question, the Timber module within the Profis Engineering software will be following Eurocode EN1995-1-1 with any appropriate national annex depending upon your setting. As the software follows the criteria of the Eurocode it will also include the spacing / edge criteria as stipulated within Section 8.7 which for example contains Table 8.6 Minimum spacings and edge distances for axially loaded screws.
