I have a hole smaller than 25mm in a plasterboard wall, it has a 20mm steel conduit going through the hole. Can I use the putty disc for this application?
Thank you for your enquiry however you have not supplied enough information regarding the base material and the required fire resistance so I cannot provide you with a specific answer other than 'maybe'. Please refer to the European Technical Assessment 16/0050 or you can utilise the easy to follow online firestop selector on your local HILITI website.
It is double sheet Plasterboard with a fire rating of 60 minutes.
Thanks for the additional information apologies if I didn't make it clear I meant how thick is your plasterboard structure i.e. 100, 150 etc.
Wall is 100mm timber with double 12.5mm plasterboard on both sides therefore 150mm thick.
Thank you for the additional information having reviewed the details supplied then the CFS-D would not be suitable for this application. To achieve a solution your steel pipe would need to have a non combustible insulation applied along with enlarged opening with maximum supports at a distance of 300mm either side of the wall with the CFS-F FX firestop foam applied which would provide 120minutes as per the attached typical detail.
Hi,
We do not require EI120 protection. We only need E120 protection so would the putty disc be suitable.
Thanks.
Hi to clarify the CFS-D would not be suitable for the application and what was suggested as an alternative met your 60 min requirement
Hi,
Is the insulation portion of your suggested firestop not only required for an EI rating and if we only require an E rating can we use the firestop foam without the insulation?
Hi, If you didn't want to use the the insulation then correct the resistance would be reduced however the seal thickness of the CFS-F FX would need to be 200mm thick so you would need to thicken up the wall locally. This detail can be reviewed with the online firestop selector which is accessible on your local website
Just noticed I changed the request from 60 minutes to 120 minutes by mistake in my previous questions.
Is your last reply based on 60 minutes and if not can you answer based on E60 rating.
