Hello,
Query 1: When installing resin anchors with dynamic washers, do the dynamic washers need to stay in place? Or can they be removed afterwards.
I have a situation where I am checking an existing structure and the O&M drawings say that the fixings should be dynamic washers. However, they are not seen on the fixings.
Query 2: Is there a help document to help understand the design process on the online software? I would like to understand the calculation justifications behind the reduced capacity when grout is under a baseplate.
Many thanks
Jack
Thanks for your questions. Ref 1 Yes, the filling set would be imposition and the resin injected to ensure the gap is filled and should be visible afterwards if this technique has been used. Please see the Instructions For Use that I've uploaded. Ref 2 There is no help document as such as EN1992 Part 4 is the limiting as it does not recommend stand-off baseplates close to an edge because a bending moment will produce additional bearing stress. It does also not yet define the resistance reduction on concrete edge performance due to stand-off. Furthermore the design yields highly conservative resistance values for steel with stand-off, making it awkward for realistic sizing conditions even under low loads. It restricts designs for ungrouted connections close to an edge and limits grouted connections where tension or overturning moment are present. Having said that please look out for the forth coming SOFA 2 launch that is imminent that addressed these issues and more by using the Profis Engineering software. I'm sure articles will appear on here as well as webinars , seminars and free online e learning within the software.
