Concrete holes oversized

Concrete holes oversized

Hi,

I've done a design that requires M24 Hilti HAS-U 8.8 and the contractor drilled the concrete to 32mm diameter holes instead of the 28mm requirement shown in the design report.
Will this cause any reduction in capacity or can the hole just be filled with more resin?

Thanks,
David

Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately your criteria is now outside of the approval process however you do have a couple of options. If the approval is not required then in this case it could be possible to utilise the RE500V4 epoxy resin is a solution as we have done internal testing and the hole diameter drilled is within this criteria of matching the published data. Second option if approval is required then you will need to follow the remedial actions for aborted holes stated within BS8539:2012 which in brief means the holes filled with a structural grout and the anchors repositioned either by x hef or x number of hole diameter's depending upon the drilled hole depth.
