Profis limits the number of anchors to a maximum of 4 and failure appears to be with the masonry. I am currently applying a 10 kN load to this wall, but would like to know if there is any way of increasing the capacity of the connection in order to increase the 10kN force?
See attached model.
Thank you for your question. First Profis is following the requirements of the masonry code for post installed fastening in
that it limits the connection group to 1, 2 or 4 anchors. Looking at your attached PE file and your inputted parameters
you have selected the 10kN is coming in at 97% utilisation with brick breakout being a leading factor. In relation to the software then you are at the limits of the UK tested units . You can of course, enlarge the connection by using a revised baseplate and more anchors and you would need to pro rata the loads to assess the distribution and make an engineering judgement over the masonry structure and whether it can resist the loads. Another option if your structure is deep enough to increase the embedment of the anchors deeper into the wall and then proceed with onsite testing in accordance with BS8539:2012 to establish the allowable resistances.
