Upstand to Existing Slab Tension Only

Upstand to Existing Slab Tension Only

Dear Sir, Madam,

we want to design a post fixed connection of a concrete upstand to an existing concrete slab. The post fixed reinforcement will only transfer tension force to the slab. The slab is only 300mm deep. We tried to design it with HILTI Anchors but due to the minimum anchorage and the depth of slab the design is not possible. The force is 170kN tension. Could you please let us know the best option to design this post fixed interface?

Thank you,
Vasiliki

Thank you for your question. I'd suggest looking at utilising the Profis Rebar software to solve this connection detail. You will be able to find a link to the software on your local HILTI website and just follow the registration process. If you prefer to produce a hand calculation then please look at the injection resins HY200R-V3 or the RE500V4 and the ETA documentation for design using the TR069 design approach for post installed rebar.

Hello, thank you for your reply. We already have installed the Profis Rebar software and none of the available options allows me to apply tension load. Once I add a tension load the message that I am getting is to go back and open a new file from the "all applications" option cause the specific option supports only compression loads. But again I cannot apply any tension load to any of the options. Could you please send me an example file, column or wall post fixed on top of a 300mm deep slab, with an applied tension load? Thank you.

Thanks for the follow up assuming you have the current version of Profis Rebar 2.6.1 you can select a wall to a slab option and due to TR069 it is possible to apply a straight tension load and I've attached a screen shot as an example. If you are still experiencing difficulty I would suggest contacting your local HILTI office for further assistance.
