Torque value for re-torquing HST3 M10 fixings

I have a set of baseplates fixed in place using Hilti HST3 M10 wedge anchors. I need to replace the baseplate, so we will remove the nuts, change the plate and fix in place with new nuts - retaining the existing M10 wedge anchors in place.

Could you please advise on the torque value for refastening on the existing wedge anchors - will the original installation torque destroy the concrete interface if used on an existing anchor? This is a common question that we receive, so is there any nominal guidance we can adopt for this situation, e.g. re-torque to 90% of installation torque?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Tony,
Please reference the following recommended retorquing procedure and guidelines below:

  • Use a calibrated torque wrench.
  • Relieve the pretensioning by loosening the anchor or nut.
  • Inspect the anchor, nut, and fixture (i.e fixture)
  • Retorque the anchor to the required tightening torque published in the Instruction for Use included with the product packaging.
  • To help limit the effect of relaxation, the anchor may be retorqued a maximum of three times following this procedure.
